Clicks are what the platform sells you. Conversations are what you are actually buying.
Both columns come off the same campaigns. Sorted by click-through rate, the ranking is one thing. Sorted by what it costs to make somebody actually write in, it is a different account.
"Your guests will queue for this booth" is the third best click-through rate in this view, 3.72%, and has produced no conversations at all. It spent $451 on 682 clicks from people who read it, recognised themselves, and had nothing to ask. Every column the platform reports says this ad is working.

An ad that names something embarrassing gets clicked, because recognising yourself is involuntary. An ad that names a cost gets answered, because the reader can already picture the number and wants to check it. Ads Manager cannot tell those two apart: both look like traffic. The column that separates them is the one that only exists once every conversation is landing in the same place, which is what the gate is for.
The bookings column closes the loop the other way. A conversation is only worth counting if somebody answered it, and the missed rows in the gate are the ones that turn a paid conversation back into nothing.
